Carnot Directors' Seminar at Ifremer, Brest

On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the directors of the 39 Carnot research institutes met in Plouzané, on the Ifremer site, for their strategic seminar. Driven by the Carnot Network, this event is an opportunity to take stock of the network's current issues and strategic orientations.

Day 1

The Carnot directors had the opportunity to visit several laboratories and testing platforms at the Plouzané site. This was an opportunity for the various participants to discover the world of research, applied to the maritime sector.
On the program:

• The wave tank and test channel of the RDT research unit.
• The SMASH laboratory, specialized in marine and underwater materials.
• The CREAM (Centre de Ressources en Echantillons et Archives Marins) platform of the GEO-OCEAN research unit.
• The BEEP laboratory, focusing on the deep-sea world.

Day 2

Opened by François Houllier, PDF of Ifremer, this day was devoted to speeches and workshops which enabled the various departments to exchange views, notably on the labeling of Carnot Institutes and the future of partnership research.

These two days, rich in encounters and discoveries, demonstrated how important it is for the 39 Carnot Institutes to get together and share their expertise, revealing the potential for collaboration.

In conclusion, a successful seduction operation for Ifremer and Carnot MERS, with splendid weather to make those accustomed to the Breton drizzle pale.
